Process Control Engineer

South-East – Botswana

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the key purpose of this role is to manage, design, co-ordinate and implement the installations of new process control systems ensuring sustainable integrity and stability of the Control and Automation (C&A) infrastructure and proactively recommend best practices within the Control and Automation.
  • Provide technical leadership in all control and automation projects in the plant; to drive safety, quality, performance, equipment reliability, and brand recipe parameters and integrity
  • Develop  automation projects scope through liaison  and interaction with internal & external stakeholders as per C & A standards
  • Develop and monitor control & automation inventories and maintenance plans to meet plant demands within budgeted time & costs
  • Ensure robust and current control and automation solutions are implemented in the plant in line with C & A roadmap
  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are continuously developed and executed by the technical team
  • Audit plant against C & A standards; document findings of the audit and assist the plant in creating action plans to close out gaps
  • Design, develop and pilot new C & A standards to ensure fit for purpose; review, make recommendations to improve and update these standards with approval of the plant manager
  • Develop and lead C & A strategic initiatives and organizational change to increase operational efficiencies
  • Develop, coach, and drive accountability for control and automation teams
  • Maintain relationships with vendors to ensure quick resolution of issues escalated; keep track of root cause & resolution
Qualifications & Experience
  • Engineering Degree in Electronic, Electrical, Mechatronic Engineering or Computer Science
  • Minimum 3 years experience with Control and Automation
  • Networks and servers
  • Microsoft server software
  • Manufacturing Execution systems (MES)
  • PLC systems
  • Field instrumentation and networks
