Access Bank Botswana is seeking an experienced and strategic individual to lead its Risk Management Division as Head of Risk.
 
About the Role
 
Reporting directly to the Country MD, the Head of Risk will be responsible for establishing and overseeing a robust risk management framework that aligns with the bank’s strategic objectives. This role is pivotal in identifying, evaluating, and mitigating risk across all facets of the business while ensuring compliance with internal policies and international standards.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
  • Develop and implement the bank’s enterprise-wide risk management strategy.
  • Define risk tolerance levels and ensure alignment with business profitability goals.
  • Establish systems, policies, and procedures for risk identification, assessment, and mitigation.
  • Oversee market and operational risk functions.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to direct reports and promote a risk-aware culture.
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements and internal risk policies.
  • Support the Country MD and executive team in strategic planning and decision-making from a risk perspective.
 
Key Requirements
 
  • A good first degree in any discipline; a Master’s degree will be an advantage.Professional certification in banking law, regulation, or risk management is required.
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in risk management within the financial services industry, with atleast 7 years in banking and 4 years at senior management level.
  • Strong understanding of local and international risk and financial regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
