Our client, Menzi Battery Metals (“Menzi”), a subsidiary of Giyani Metals Corp (“Giyani”), represents one of the most exciting and leading developments within Botswana’s mining and critical minerals landscape. Menzi is a battery metals development company focused on becoming one of Africa’s first low-carbon producers of high-purity manganese sulphate monohydrate (HPMSM), one of the vital material’s used in electric vehicles (EV) lithium-ion batteries. The flagship K. Hill Project is located in Kanye and once in full operation, it is expected to be one of the largest producers of HPMSM globally delivering ethical, sustainable, low carbon battery material to the international battery supply chain.
A high-performing Finance Manager is needed to support the Company’s transition from development stage to construction and ultimately to operation. The role will be based in Gaborone and will focus on all of Giyani’s African subsidiaries. This represents a unique opportunity to join a dynamic international team and play a key role in this exciting journey.
Reporting to the Country Manager (Botswana) and Group CFO (Canada), you will be responsible for all aspects of financial reporting and be hands-on in setting up and shaping the accounting function. This will require you to have high levels of drive, energy, perseverance, and a results-oriented attitude to work.
Duties include:
- Preparing the annual financial statements and notes for all African subsidiaries
- Supporting Corporate monthly internal reporting and quarterly and annual external reporting requirements
- Managing banking relationships and overseeing all online banking platforms
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Responsibility for all compliance filings (e.g. CIPA, CIPC, BURS, SARS, etc.) in Botswana and South Africa
You will need:
- Financial Reporting experience in Botswana and South Africa
- To be a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA, ACCA, CIMA, BICA)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a high-level Finance leadership role within a highly demanding environment
- To be extremely strong technically re. Financial Reporting and Business Analysis
- To be a Citizen of Botswana
- Experience (or strong exposure) within the construction, manufacturing or mining industry
