Data Protection Officer


Okavango Diamond Company (ODC) is a premier rough diamond marketing company, offering global customers open access to a large-scale supply of rough diamonds sourced from Botswana. As the principal supplier in the sector, ODC represents the largest guaranteed source of Botswana’s diamond production within the industry. Currently undergoing an exciting transformation, ODC is seeking dedicated, self-driven professionals to join its dynamic team.
 
The DPO is responsible for developing, managing, and overseeing a comprehensive data protection compliance programme, ensuring that the organisation processes personal data lawfully, accurately, and in compliance with the Data Protection Act. Key duties include: conducting audits and data protection impact assessments; maintaining accurate records of data processing activities; embedding compliance into policies, processes, and projects and delivering staff training to strengthen data protection awareness and risk management.
 
You will need a law degree (LLB) or bachelor’s degree in information security, computer science, cyber security, information technology or a related field. A minimum of 5 years professional experience in data management or data protection compliance. In-depth knowledge of data protection laws and regulations, coupled with proven skills in risk management and data security.
