Chief Operating Officer
The Botswana Housing Corporation (BHC), a statutory corporation in Property Development and Estates Management business, through its housing development and rental schemes, impacts the lives of many Batswana. While much has been achieved in the 50 years of BHC’s existence, significant transformation lies ahead for BHC to adapt to changing conditions and achieve its mandate. The Corporation invites applicants who are suitably qualified and have relevant experience to apply for the position of Chief Operations Officer.
Overview of the Role
Reporting to the CEO, your role will be to lead in driving initiatives that will provide decent and affordable housing for the Corporation’s customers. You will also be responsible for determining the market demand for housing, facilitating the preparation of land for property development, designing, and building property in line with customer requirements as well as ensuring that service providers contracted are effectively managed to assist the Corporation in execution of its mandate.
The role requires a dynamic and strategic leader with a proven track record in project delivery and execution. Experience in the property development field gained from executing complex capital-intensive projects working to challenging deadlines is critical for this role.
To achieve success in this role the incumbent must have a depth of experience in project management, leading change, inspiring exceptional performance and challenging the status quo. It is expected that this changed business culture will inspire and reward exceptional project delivery and customer service.
Qualifications, Experience And Knowledge
- Education: Degree in Built Environment, with emphasis on Property Development and Property Management, Real Estate or related fields.
- Postgraduate diploma or higher qualification in Built Environment, with emphasis on Project Management.
- Professional Membership of an internationally recognised institute.
Experience Required
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years post qualification experience of which at least ten (10) years should have been at director or executive/senior management level.
- Demonstrable capabilities in business development and technical understanding of project delivery cycle are also critical to this role.
