Botswana Ash (Botash) is Southern Africa’s leading producer of natural sodium products, jointly owned by the Government of Botswana and Chlor-Alkali Holdings (Pty) Ltd of South Africa. Operating from Sua Pan since 1991, the company produces around 300,000 tonnes of soda ash and 650,000 tonnes of salt annually supporting essential industries across the region.

About the role:
We are seeking a seasoned and visionary Chief Financial Officer to join the executive leadership team. You will provide strategic financial leadership by driving the company’s financial strategy, ensuring strong governance, and delivering accurate, compliant financial reporting. The role includes overseeing budgeting, forecasting, risk management, internal controls, and treasury operations while supporting commercial decision-making across production, supply chain, and sales.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Advise the MD and Board on financial strategy, investments, and commercial decisions.
- Financial Management & Reporting: Lead financial reporting, cashflow, treasury, and audit processes. Ensure accurate, compliant financial information and strong governance.
- Budgeting & Commercial Analysis: Drive budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and project evaluations.
- Governance & Risk: Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and tax requirements. Lead enterprise risk management and strengthen internal control frameworks.
- Leadership of Support Functions: Provide strategic leadership to the Finance, ICT, Materials, Legal, and Administration functions and build capability, embed performance excellence through KPIs, and enhance systems, processes, and service delivery across all support areas.
- SHERQ & Values: Champion safety, compliance, and environmental responsibility across all finance-related activities.
Requirements:
- Chartered Accountant qualification (CA, ACCA, CIMA, etc.).
- More than fifteen (15) years post-qualification experience.
- At least five (5) years’ experience as a CFO in a large organisation
