Chief Executive Officer


The Special Economic Zones Authority (SEZA) is spearheading Botswana’s economic diversification by developing, managing, and regulating Special Economic Zones (SEZs). These zones attract investment, create jobs, and drive export-led growth, positioning Botswana as a premier hub in Africa and beyond. SEZA now seeks a dynamic Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead this transformation, inspire investor confidence, and shape the nation’s economic future.
 
About the Role
Reporting to the Board, the CEO will provide strategic leadership to transform Botswana’s SEZs into dynamic hubs of investment and innovation. The role includes driving SEZA’s long-term vision, ensuring regulatory compliance, building strong partnerships, and representing SEZA nationally and internationally. The CEO will shape an enabling regulatory environment to foster investor confidence, oversee SEZ planning and execution, and foster a high-performance culture that delivers growth, jobs, and diversification.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
  • Design and execute SEZA’s strategy to deliver competitive, investor-friendly SEZs.
  • Promote Botswana’s SEZ value proposition to attract FDI and grow domestic enterprise.
  • Forge strong partnerships with government, business, investors, and communities.
  • Oversee SEZ planning, licensing, compliance, and aftercare to ensure investor confidence.
  • Drive performance and culture by developing talent and ensuring sustainability.
  • Safeguard SEZA’s role as a regulator while enabling a competitive, investor-friendly environment.
  • Protect SEZA’s reputation through sound governance, accountability, and brand leadership.
 
Qualifications & Experience
 
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Social Sciences, or related field.
  • 15+ years’ experience in a commercially driven environment, including at least 7 at Executive level.
  • Proven record of engaging high-level stakeholders.
Experience in regulated industries, infrastructure, or investment facilitation is an advantage.
