Chief Digital Services Officer (CDSO)


Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC)is seeking an innovative and customer-centric Chief Digital Services Officer (CDSO) to lead the strategy, development, and delivery of digital products and services. The CDSO will oversee all aspects of the company’s digital services portfolio, including digital platforms, user experience, digital transformation initiatives, and service innovation as well as manage the fintech ecosystem. This executive will play a key role in shaping and executing the digital vision to drive customer engagement, revenue growth, and market differentiation in an increasingly connected and competitive tech landscape.
 
Reporting to : Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
 
Key Responsibilities:
Digital Strategy & Vision
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive digital services strategy aligned with the company’s mission and growth objectives.
  • Identify new market opportunities, technologies, and partnerships to accelerate digital innovation.
Product & Service Development
  • Lead the design, development, and rollout of customer-facing digital products, platforms, and services (e.g., SaaS, cloud services, mobile apps, portals, APIs).
  • Ensure digital services are scalable, secure, and deliver exceptional customer experiences.
Digital Transformation Leadership
  • Drive internal and external digital transformation initiatives to streamline operations, modernize platforms, and improve service delivery.
  • Champion a digital-first mindset across the organization and lead cross-functional digital programs.
Customer Experience & Engagement
  • Oversee user experience (UX), customer journey mapping, and digital engagement strategies.
  • Use data analytics, AI, and automation to personalize digital interactions and improve service outcomes.
Technology Enablement & Innovation
  • Collaborate closely with the CTIO and product teams to ensure robust technical foundations for all digital services.
  • Identify and drive external partnerships with innovative startups and service providers
Team Leadership & Organizational Development
  • Build and lead high-performing teams across digital product management, UX/UI, service design, digital marketing and application development.
  • Foster a culture of agility, experimentation, and customer obsession.
Performance & Analytics
  • Define KPIs and metrics to measure digital service performance, customer satisfaction, and ROI.
  • Continuously optimize digital initiatives based on data insights and market feedback.
 
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, Digital Innovation, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
  • 10–15+ years of experience in digital leadership roles within the tech or digital services industry.
  • Proven track record of leading digital product and platform development at scale.
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms, SaaS models, digital ecosystems, and API-driven services.
  • Experience managing digital transformation programs in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
