Chief Consumer Sales Officer
Botswana Telecommunication Corporation (BTC)is seeking a dynamic and strategic Chief Consumer Sales Officer (CSO) to lead and scale our sales operations within the competitive telecoms sector. The CSO will be responsible for developing and executing the company’s sales and distribution strategy, driving revenue growth, expanding market share, and building high-performance sales and distribution teams. This role requires a deep understanding of market dynamics in FMCG and services markets, retail and distribution networks, and customer behaviour trends.
Reporting to : Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Strategy & Execution:
- Develop and execute comprehensive sales and distribution strategies aligned with business goals and market opportunities.
- Drive aggressive revenue growth and market penetration across all product lines and territories across mobile, fixed, broadband and fintech.
Leadership & Team Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing sales organization, including regional managers, retail teams, SME teams and for indirect channels.
- Establish clear performance objectives, KPIs, and incentive structures to drive accountability and excellence.
Customer & Channel Management:
- Strengthen relationships with key distributors, retailers, and modern trade partners.
- Optimize go-to-market models across channels including general trade, modern trade, and e-commerce.
Market & Competitor Analysis:
- Analyse market trends, customer insights, and competitor activities to refine sales strategies and maintain a competitive edge.
- Identify and capitalise on new business opportunities and revenue streams.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Partner with marketing, finance, supply chain, and product teams to ensure alignment in product launches, pricing strategies, and customer service.
- Provide input into demand planning and forecasting to ensure supply meets market demand.
Sales Operations & Reporting:
- Oversee sales operations including CRM systems, reporting, forecasting, and budgeting.
- Report regularly to the CEO and Board on sales performance, projections, and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (MBA preferred).
- Minimum of 10-15 years of sales leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior role within the retail, distribution industry for FMCG.
- Proven track record of delivering significant revenue growth in scalable, multi-channel, nationwide environments.
- Strong understanding of FMCG sales cycles, route-to-market strategies, and consumer behaviour.
- Experience managing large, geographically dispersed sales and distribution teams.
