As Botswana drives forward its national agenda of economic diversification, the Botswana Digital & Innovation Hub (BDIH) stands at the forefront of this transformation. By nurturing tech-driven enterprises and home-grown innovation, BDIH plays a vital role in building a resilient, knowledge-based economy. Operating through its subsidiaries, BIHP and BIHI, and leveraging the Science and Technology Park, BDIH attracts investment, talent, and ideas to propel Botswana into a digitally enabled future. To lead this mission, BDIH is seeking a transformational Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to accelerate impact, champion innovation, and help realise the country’s economic aspirations.
About the role:
Together with the Board, the CEO will provide strategic leadership, visionary direction, and operational oversight to scale the Hub into a globally recognised centre for innovation, entrepreneurship, and tech-enabled solutions. This collaborative leadership role offers a unique opportunity to position Botswana at the forefront of the global innovation economy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership & Vision: Develop and execute a bold vision and strategic plan that drives organizational
transformation, ecosystem partnerships and sustainable growth.

- Financial Management: Ensure financial sustainability through revenue-generating initiatives; partnerships, sponsorships and grants while optimizing operational efficiency.
- Partnerships & Ecosystem Development: Forge and maintain high-impact relationships with government, investors, academia and industry to unlock collaboration and funding opportunities.
- Program Oversight: Oversee incubation, acceleration and venture-building programs that provide startups with world-class mentorship, resources and market access.
- Talent & Culture: Build and inspire a high-performing, mission-driven team; foster a culture of inclusivity, creativity and operational excellence.
Qualifications:
- Background in business, technology, or related fields; an advanced degree (MBA, MSc, PhD) is an advantage.
- At least 15 years of professional experience, including a minimum of 5 years in senior leadership within R&D, innovation management or business development.
This is not a role for the faint-hearted. It demands a dynamic and resilient leader who can navigate complexity, overcome systemic challenges, and drive change in a fast-evolving landscape. Success will require deep expertise in innovation ecosystems, corporate partnerships, and startup acceleration, along with a proven ability to lead organisational transformation, improve financial performance, and deliver sustainable impact under pressure.
