Our client, Menzi Battery Metals (“Menzi”), a subsidiary of Giyani Metals Corp (“Giyani”), represents one of the most exciting and leading developments within Botswana’s mining and critical minerals landscape. Menzi is a battery metals development company focused on becoming one of Africa’s first low-carbon producers of high-purity manganese sulphate monohydrate (HPMSM), one of the vital material’s used in electric vehicles (EV) lithium-ion batteries.

 

The role will ensure compliance with environmental regulations and support community engagement initiatives. This role focuses on implementing environmental and social policies, monitoring compliance, and promoting sustainable practices in line with company standards and local legislation.

 

• Implement and monitor environmental management systems as directed by policies and Environmental Management Plans (EMPs).

• Engage with local communities to communicate the company’s social and environmental initiatives.

• Collect and maintain accurate data on environmental and social performance indicators.

• Identify and report potential environmental and social risks encountered during site operations.

• Conduct basic training sessions for employees and contractors on environmental and social compliance requirements.

• Work strictly within the framework of company policies and procedures, ensuring consistency with the Environmental and Social Management Systems (ESMS).

 

 

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Social Studies, or a related field. A diploma with significant relevant experience may also be considered.

• 3–5 years of experience in environmental and/or social governance roles, preferably in the miningor industrial sector.

• Fluent in English; knowledge of Setswana is an advantage.

• Willingness to work on-site, including remote locations, with travel as required.
